Acne vulgaris or commonly referred to as acne breakout is most common around the oil glands are numerous, such as nose, forehead, around our lips and some other parts of the body. The problem is prevalent near the sebum secreting glands. When oil, dirt, dead skin cells come in contact with each other, they clog the pores of the skin. The problem arises when the accumulation happens over a period of time without notice and bacteria aggravate the situation gradually leading to enlargement of sebaceous follicles. And ultimately acne breaks out and spreads over the exposed areas.

Evolution of the disease

The dermatologists have discussed the growth stages of acne and divided into various segments.

  • Comedo: The wounds in the patients are initially caused by closed comedones. When the situation is in microcomedo stage is it generally invisible. This is the earliest inflammatory lesion and caused by bacterial outgrowth. Blackheads, whiteheads are common types.
  • Pustule (transient papulopustule): Surface or superficial blowout does not cause major problems, however, deep rooted follicular ruptures are a matter of concern. The situation is worsened by discharge of comedonal remains and pus deep into the skin causing infection of other healthy follicles. This grows into polyporos cysts.
  • Papule (nontransient type): Severe inflammation causes destruction of follicle lining and infecting the skin. Often hair follicles form horny detritus and granulomas. It may take several months to cure and often leaves scars.
  • Nodule: The next stage if development of acne is nodules. Such cases are totally upsetting because it is hemorrhagic in nature and painful. It also leaves blemishes and lesions on skin.
  • Draining sinus: Resulting from nodular lesion forming interconnecting tunnels. It drains the infected fluid internally and crusts over. This leaves scars on skin.

Types of Pimples on Body

  • Comedonal acne: It is mild acne and refers to blackheads, whiteheads mostly.
  • Papulopustular acne: It is a combination of inflammatory acne which are both superficial and deep.
  • Acne conglobata: It is the most dangerous type of infection which is severe in nature. It is a combination of inflamed nodules and draining lesions.
  • True acne: Menopausal acne, pyoderma faciale, acne mechanica, acne fulminans, premenstrual acne, comedonal acne and numerous others are called true acne.

Depending upon severity of the situation one can employ different methods of treatment. For mild acne simple homemade recipe are useful, whereas, developed and severe cases require additional help.
