…Last night, during nursing, my six-week-old son Nathan made a sputtering sound
and let go of me. I figured he was done so I put myself back together and looked
down at him. His lips were blue and he didn't look right. I picked him up and put

"Some firefighters wait their whole careers to save a baby’s life, so it’s
quite an accomplishment for Lupe,” said Andrew Kline, Vandenberg Hot Shots firefighter.
“His life will be forever changed.”

had passed out from choking…

The firefighter put the infant on his arm, face down. Her head dipped toward the
ground at a 45-degree angle. The fluid in her throat and mouth began to drain...
